  • Operating CNC machinery to packing the finished products.
  • Working on a computerised system.
  • All these aspects will need to be carried out with the up most quality and attention to detail, while maintaining organisational targets.
  • Working at the end of a hot furnace, where glass receives heat treatment.

  • Prior experience in a factory advantageous however not imperative.
  • Awareness of CNC machinery and operation is beneficial.

Production General Operative

We are looking for Production Operatives to work for our Rotherham based client. This is an exciting and varied role, with the opportunity to progress.
This position is ideal for graduate apprentices, who are looking to further develop within an engineering environment or someone wanting to get into this industry.

This position involves Galvanising. What is galvanising?

This is the process in which metal is cleaned and then dipped into a bath of zinc. This process coats the product with a layer of zinc to protect it from rusting when exposed to extreme weather conditions.

Summary of the Production Operative position:

The pay: £9.10 - £9.82 ph

Location: Rotherham.

The Hours: 37.5 hours per week, working on a rotating shift pattern (Afternoons/Days/Nights).

The Job: Our Production Operative position offers the opportunity to work with industrial process equipment. No experience is necessary and full training is provided. You will be operating process equipment, handling customer products, carrying out general labouring duties, keeping work areas clean and tidy in a production and manufacturing environment. Operatives are also trained in the safe use and operation of counterbalance forklift trucks.

The Person: You will need to be able to demonstrate that you are a driven individual, with a strong work ethic.

Daily tasks of the Hot End Foreman position:

  • Responsible for the overall quality of production, produced by their team operating the IS Machines.
  • Ensuring their team works to a safe manner, to protect their own and their colleagues’ safety.
  • Assisting and advising the Shift Production Supervisors, Senior Operators, Operators and Assistants on machine operation and bottle fault rectification.
  • Working with the Shift Production Supervisors, Senior Operators and making adjustments to the Feeder and Forehearth. The Hot End Foreman will also manage the changing of tubes, needles and orifice rings out of normal working hours.
  • Taking the lead in a power-cut /emergency situation, managing the operation in the machine area. The Hot End Foreman would also support the Teaser with any furnace issues.
  • Attending daily production meetings with the Production Manager.
  • Providing information about the performance of IS Machines and highlighting any Health and Safety issues to the Production Manager.
  • Site security, i.e., ensuring that all gates are closed on nights and contacting emergency services if necessary.
  • Taking control when the fire alarm is activated.
  • Housekeeping in the IS Machine production area during shift.
  • Recording production information in the shift log, i.e., faults generated by machines, stoppages in production, health and safety matters and staff.
  • Carrying out accident investigations and creating comprehensive accident reports.
  • Handling team grievances and supporting disciplinary processes.
  • Carrying out an in-depth job hand-over.
  • Carrying out any reasonable request within their skill set.

The candidate specification:

  • Must have an ILM Level 2 or equivalent.
  • An ILM Level 3 is desirable.
  • IOSH or equivalent H&S training.
  • Experienced ‘Man Manager’
  • Audit process and management.
  • An accurate and sufficient report writer.
  • Understanding of targets and OTIF.
  • Experienced and can demonstrate commitment to the one best way of working through adherence to job cards and SOP’s.
  • Experience working within CI teams.
  • Experience of Hot End production (IS) machinery.
  • Educated to GCSE level with passes in Maths, English, and Science.
  • Experienced in mechanical fault finding and problem solving.
  • Must have extensive bottle fault knowledge.
